Katy Perry Has Welcomed Her First Child, Just Hours Before Her New Album Is Set To Drop

Katy Perry is set to embark on the biggest 24 hours of her life to date, as she’s given birth to her first child just hours before she’s set to drop her new album, Smile.

Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom welcomed Daisy Dove Bloom earlier today, with Bloom posting a photo of all three of them holding hands.

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the couple wrote on their respective Instagram posts.

The post was originally shared by UNICEF, who both Perry and Bloom are ambassadors for.

“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes,” the post continued.

“Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”

“In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival,” they later said.

“By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your ♥️ can bloom with generosity.”

Perry’s fifth studio album Smile is out tomorrow (Friday, 27th August). It is preceded by singles ‘Never Really Over’, ‘Harleys In Hawaii’the title track and, yes, ‘Daisies’.
