Keith Richards Announces First Solo Album In Two Decades

Not only has Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards defied the skeptics by actually surviving til the year 2015, he’s now sticking it to them even harder by releasing his first solo album in twenty years, Crosseyed Heart.

The legendary axeman’s new LP has been billed as “a fifteen track masterclass encompassing everything that makes Keith Richards one of the 20th century’s most celebrated talents”, and promises to genre-bend between reggae, rock, country and the blues. At the very least, you can bet it will be better than Justin Bieber.

“I had a ball making this new record and working with Steve Jordan and Waddy Wachtel again,” The Stone said. “There’s nothing like walking into a studio and having absolutely no idea what you’re going to come out with on the other end. If you’re looking for ‘Trouble,’ you’ve come to the right place.”

That last quip was a genius bit of wordplay referencing the disc’s first single, Trouble, which is set to drop on July 17th.

Richards will also showcase all of the musical skillz he’s banked over his 71 year existence on the new disc, which sees him tackling electric and acoustic guitars, bass, piano and vocals.

He’s joined by an army of fellow music veterans on many of the tracks, including drummer Steve Jordan, guitarist Waddy Wachtel, Rolling Stones backup singer Bernard Fowler and his dear friend, the now departed Stones’ saxophonist Bobby Keys.

Crosseyed Heart, the guitarist’s third solo album and first since 1992’s Main Offender, is due to drop, like Richards from a coconut tree, on September 18th.
