Kesha Sings “Thank You” To Fans In New Song Snippet

Kesha‘s lawyer has uploaded a short, home-recorded clip of the pop songstress singing a new song to her fans, thanking them for their support during her ongoing legal battle against Sony Music and its producer, Dr. Luke.

A judge last week denied an injunction to break Kesha’s recording contract with the label, which would have enabled her to escape continuing to work alongside a man she claims has been sexually abusing her since she was 18 years old.

Since the ruling, there’s been an outpouring of public support for Kesha, prompting 200,000 fans to call for a boycott of Sony products and the #FreeKesha hashtag to trend globally.

“A special thanks to everyone who has had her back,” Kesha’s lawyer Mark Geragos tweeted along with the hashtag #animals, the name given to the Kesha fandom.

The attached DIY clip shows Kesha singing accompanied by an off-camera guitarist. “I don’t know what I would do, without you,” she sings in the brief song.

Kesha is currently unable to release music outside of her contract with Sony, and despite the label stating publicly that she is free to work with other producers beyond Dr. Luke, Kesha claims that the label has also insinuated that any such recordings would not be promoted, and would thus doom her career.

However, several high-profile musicians have since come out offering to make music with Kesha for the sole purpose of leaking it behind Sony’s back, including The Flaming Lips and Fun’s Jack Antonoff.

The record label this week issued its first public statement, claiming that Kesha’s contract with them could not be legally terminated because the singer is signed to Dr. Luke’s label and Sony subsidiary Kemosabe Records, which was created through a separate deal with the producer’s production company.

Kesha and Dr. Luke have been in an ongoing legal battle since 2014, stemming from the singer’s allegations that the hitmaker drugged and raped her, as well as inflicting almost 10-years of emotional abuse.

Dr. Luke has recently spoken out about Kesha’s accusations, denying everything and claiming that she was “like a little sister” to him.

Kesha recently broke her silence on the whole ordeal as well, taking to Facebook with her first public statement to assert that the protracted legal battle is now “bigger than just about me.”

“All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused,” she wrote. “This case has never been about a renegotiation of my record contract – it was never about getting a bigger, or a better deal. This is about being free from my abuser. I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.”

Taylor Swift has donated $250K to help with Kesha’s legal battle.
