Late last year, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard announced their own, hand-curated music festival. Dubbed Timeland, it was set to run across New Year’s Eve at Our Friend’s Farm in Tallarook, Victoria, with a lineup that included the band playing six hours total across four different sets, along with Harvey Sutherland, Grace Cummings, Gordon Koang and many more.
Unfortunately, fate (and COVID) dictated otherwise, and the band were forced to pull the plug on the event, citing rising cases of community transmission in Victoria. To make up for the cancelled event, the band have announced its replacement: a show at Reunion Park in Burnley, Melbourne that will see the band playing a marathon three-hour set.
Stonefield, Ajak Kwai and Nice Biscuit – all of whom were set to play the cancelled Timeland – will also perform, along with Babe Rainbow, Bones & Jones & Folk Bitch Trio and DJ Sophie McAlister. It’s all taking place on Saturday, 5th March, with tickets on sale tomorrow at 10am.
If you’re an Aussie King Gizz fan, this is likely your only chance to catch the psych-rockers in 2022. The band are set to kick off a tour next month with appearances at Coachella Festival, before spending the majority of the year playing shows in North and South America, Europe and the UK.
