King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have announced a new collection of material of fans to get their hands on. Titled CHUNKY, the new project from the Melbourne psych heroes isn’t another album, but a sprawling photo book.
Documenting the band’s tour through Europe in 2019, CHUNKY is crammed with tour life photos taken by King Gizz photographer, Jamie Wdziekonski (SUB-LATION). Considering how long it’s been since we’ve been able to get sweaty in live music environments, in the way that we’ve been used to, a book like CHUNKY serves as a fun, nostalgic reminder of what we need to get back to ASAP.
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have shared a preview of the book, unveiling some images from time spent in the U.K., Germany, The Netherlands and Scotland. Check it out below.
Already this year, King Gizz have released two studio records – their 17th and 18th albums respectively in L.W. and Butterfly 3000 – and made their return to live shows, performing a string of dates in Victoria.
Coming up, the band will return to Sydney, taking over Carriageworks for a mammoth five-night residency as part of Vivid Live. Each night will see the band perform a completely different set list under distinct themes: ‘Acoustic Night’, ‘Jams Night’, ‘Microtonal Night’, ‘Garage Rock Night’, and ‘Heavy Metal Night’.
CHUNKY is set for release through King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard’s website from 9am AEST this week (July 9) but if you want to get on it, don’t delay.
There’s only 1100 copies of the 350-page photo book available and if you know how quickly King Gizz material sells out…you’ll know these won’t hang around long.
