Kirin J Callinan Charged By Police After Video Emerges Of Him Allegedly Flashing His Penis At The ARIAs

Kirin J Callinan has been charged after he allegedly flashed his penis at the 2017 ARIA Awards.

As The Guardian reports, Callinan has been charged with wilful and obscene exposure in a public place. Under New South Wales law he could face a $1,100 fine or a six-month prison sentence.

Callinan is due to appear in court later this month for the incident, which occurred at Star City Casino on 28th November around 4pm, the time he walked the red carpet at the ARIA Awards.

Just days ago Crowded House frontman Neil Finn shared a video of the incident on social media, defending Callinan’s actions amidst continuing backlash.

Earlier this year, Callinan was dropped from the Laneway Festival lineup. Fellow Laneway artist Sian Vandermuelen (AKA Miss Blanks) then confirmed she’d addressed her concerns about his place on the lineup with organisers prior to his removal saying his behaviour “shouldn’t be tolerated”.

Callinan later came out in defence of Blanks, telling his followers to “respect” each other. He also admitted that he was “a wee bit disappointed” to not be performing.

Despite this, Callinan still performed onstage at the Sydney leg of the festival on Sunday, slotting into Mac DeMarco’s set.

Callinan is still yet to directly address the incident. His manager Todd Wagstaff told The Guardian, “Kirin will be speaking about the matter at the appropriate time.”
