KISS Accidentally Flew the Australian Flag During A Show In Austria

Iconic rockers KISS – or at the very least, one of their crew – have come under fire for an embarrassing mix-up, showing a visual of the Australian flag during their recent show in Austria. As Stereogum explain, the incident took place over the weekend during the group’s performance in Vienna.

Though no videos of the incident have emerged, a number of images have circulated on Twitter, showing what happened as fans left the Wiener Stadthalle arena. A graphic appeared onstage with the phrase “KISS Loves You Vienna”, though the word ‘KISS’ was filled in with the Australian flag.

Internet users were quick to mock the incident, with some referring back to a similar gaffe from 2019 when the group performed at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Unfortunately, spell-check was not utilised while printing the souvenir tour shirts, and punters were left purchasing shirts emblazoned with the word “Cincinnatti” instead.

As yet, no one from the KISS camp has commented on the incident, with most observers on social media finding the funny side of it and comparing it to the career of the soon-to-reunite Spinal Tap.

KISS are set to bring their End Of The Road Tour to Australia in late August, having originally planned for the tour to kick off on local soil back in late 2019. Frontman Paul Stanley’s health issues originally caused a delay of the shows, and the COVID pandemic pushed them back further. The band will perform in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Townsville.
