Homegrown electro-house duo Knife Party have joined the lineup for Perth’s Origin NYE festival and will be heading to the west coast at the end of this month to help bring in the new year.
Knife Party will now join previously announced acts including AlunaGeorge, Baauer, Danny Brown, Hudson Mohawke, Nina Las Vegas, Norway’s Cashmere Cat and Montreal’s Kaytranada for the Perth festival.
Recently Origin NYE organisers announced the festival will move to a new venue, after troubles with local councils led to them being denied use of East Perth’s Wellington Square. This year, Origin will be held at Paterson Stadium in Subiaco & Kitchener Park.
This week Knife Party participated in a Reddit AMA where producer Rob Swire admitted he had lost interest in his original drum’n’bass outfit Pendulum, which went on hiatus in 2012. He said that although Pendulum are contractually obliged to make another album he doesn’t “really want to do one.”
