Krist Novoselic Wants To Play Nirvana Material In Australia: “It Has To Happen”

Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic has said he’d relish the opportunity to play Nirvana songs live in Australia.

Speaking to Triple J, Novoselic reacted well to the proposition of coming back to Australia, after not visiting for 20 years.

“That’s the best plan I’ve heard all year,” he said. “It has to happen. I was gonna come over with Dave [Grohl] to do the Sound City thing but that hasn’t happened yet. When there’s a continental drift, I’ll be there.”

Nirvana’s third and final studio album, 1993’s In Utero, was recently given a 20th anniversary reissue, featuring 70 songs, including previously unreleased material, b-sides, as well as compilation tracks and even some live material.

Guitarist Pat Smear, who played with Nirvana during their In Utero tour, also recently admitted that he’d like to play Nirvana songs again.

In the past year Novoselic has performed alongside former Nirvana member Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and Beatles legend Paul McCartney. Their gig in Seattle (grunge’s supposed ‘home-town’) in July this year featured a ton of Beatles tracks, yet no Nirvana.
