Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil have announced that they will no longer be heading to Australia later this month for Download Festival 2020.
Releasing a statement on social media, the band said that they’ve had to cancel tours all across South East Asia due to the COVID-19, or Coronavirus, outbreak.
“We regret to inform our beloved fans of South East Asia that due to circumstances beyond our control we must cancel our upcoming shows in Dubai, Bangkok, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore and Jakarta.”
They explained that their home region of Lombardia is in the midst of a coronavirus outrbeak. Italy currently has the worst outbreak of the virus across Europe.

“While cancelling is heartbreaking for us, everyone’s health and safety must come first and this includes our fans.”
The band’s appearances at Download Festival were set to be their only Australian shows. The festival has revealed that a replacement will be announced soon.
Download Festival is taking place in Sydney and Melbourne later this month, and sports a lineup with My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, Deftones and more.
