Lamb Of God: “We Would Never Try And Harm Anyone”

Lamb of God‘s management have emphatically denied reports that a fight was central to the incident, which has seen frontman Randy Blythe arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in the Czech Republic.

Blythe was arrested just moments before the band were scheduled to go on stage at the Rock Cafe in Prague over an incident that occurred at a LOG show in the same city in May 2010. At the show, it is alleged that a rowdy fan managed to get on stage and got into a punch-up with Blythe. The concertgoer later died due to injuries received during the altercation.

In a statement, the band’s management said reports of the fight were completely untrue, and that no further statement would be made on Bylthe’s arrest until Monday.

“Lamb of God Management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos.”

The statement went on to say: “Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved… Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts need to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate.” Read the full statement here.

Blythe’s bandmate and LOG guitarist Willie Adler told Loudwire that he couldn’t recall the show in question – and the band were still in the Czech Republic awaiting the latest news.

“It’s been a rough couple of days”, he said.  “All I can say is that I can’t recall that particular show let alone a fan being beaten on the stage.”

“All our thoughts are with him [Blythe] as well as the family of the deceased fan. We’ve no real clue as to what happened to him, but we send our condolences. All we try to do is entertain; the fans are why we’re here. We would never try and harm anyone.”

On the other hand, Czech music blog SicMaggot have re-posted a concertgoer’s review of the show in question – which stated that Blythe was irritated by a punter who had jumped on stage. “At first Randy hit him a lot, then Randy jumped on him to hold him down while he continued singing? When the fan got up, Randy took him by the hair and threw down quite quickly.”  Read the full translated excerpt at the Under The Gun Review site here.
