Pop songstress and self-described “American Poet” Lana Del Rey has released the minute-long trailer for her upcoming short film Tropico, which you can watch below. The 30-minute film is set for release on 5th December, and will be supported by a four-track EP of the same name, released digitally on the very same day. The four songs on the EP will be The Film ‘Tropico’, Body Electric, Gods And Monsters and Bel Air.
The film stars Del Ray in the lead role, alongside model Shaun Ross. The short was directed by Anthony Mandler, with production being overseen by high-profile music producer Rick Rubin. Judging from the trailer we can expect distance glances, bubbles, strippers, guns and snakes.
Del Ray scared fans earlier this year by saying that Tropico may be her “farewell project”. She has also admitted that she may not be able to create a follow-up to her 2011 album Born To Die. Perhaps the industry’s eventual reaction to the film will help her figure out just what to do next.
