Lorde
It seems like 16-year-old New Zealander Lorde (Ella Yelich-O’Connor) has had a tremendously quick rise to fame this year. Though indie by nature, Lorde’s music has a strong pop undercurrent, highlighted by her smooth and often-harmonised vocals, also taking elements from post-dubstep and trip-hop. Her last-minute performance at Splendour was a smash-hit, and her recent run of club shows in the States saw her pick up high-profile support from the LA crowd. We – and everyone else, apparently – will be front and centre.
