Laneway Festival To Debut In Detroit In September

The St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is continuing its worldwide expansion, with organisers confirming that the festival will make its North American debut in Detroit this September.

The Detroit instalment of the boutique Australian festival – to be held at Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, Michagan on September 14 – was announced by Laneway founders and partners Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio at their third annual SXSW party and showcase in Austin overnight.

“We’re incredibly excited. Detroit – with its unbelievably dynamic musical past and present – is the perfect location for our first foray into North America,” Roberts said.

Borazio and Rogers will be partnering with Palace Sports & Entertainment and Paradigm Talent Agency to promote the Laneway Festival in the US.

“The Laneway Festival aligns with our mission to bring great music to our fans and we knew we had to bring that to Detroit,” said Palace Sports and Entertainment spokesperson Lucinda Treat.

“With our venues and resources, we know the Laneway Festival Detroit will continue to maintain the standard Laneway fans the world over expect.”

Rogers and Borazio said they wanted the festival to share in Detroit’s rich musical heritage.

“We continue to expand our vision for Laneway and the Laneway Festival Detroit is just the next step,” they said.

“We couldn’t have done this without Palace Sports & Entertainment as our global partner and we couldn’t have picked a better city.

“When you hear ‘Detroit,’ you think Motown, you think rock and roll and you think of great music. We want Laneway to be a part of that conversation.”

A full lineup is expected to be announced in the coming months. To keep in touch with all the developments visit Laneway Festival’s official website or follow the Twitter hashtag #LanewayDetroit.
