The team behind St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival have announced that, for the second year in a row, the festival will not go ahead in 2022.
In a statement shared to social media on Friday (18th February), organisers confirmed that they had decided to sit out a 2022 run due to COVID-19. The good news is that a return is on the cards for next year, with many of the acts for the 2023 edition already booked.
“With the exciting news announced recently that our borders will open to all visa holders in late Feb along with the reopening of Sydney and Melbourne’s dance floors, we feel there’s an optimism and confidence that things are returning to ‘normal’ quite soon,” organisers wrote.
“It’s already feeling like one of those very special Laneway lineups,” they said of next year’s prospective bill – their first since a 2020 edition that featured the likes of The 1975, Charli XCX, Ruel and Earl Sweatshirt on the bill.
“There are so many exciting ideas and dreams coming into the picture and we look forward to sharing them with you into the new normal.”
