Which means when given the opportunity to play host to KISSES only Sydney show, we said “YES – for our sweethearts: the indie children of Sydney!” The boyfriend/girlfriend duo, hailing from sunny Los Angeles, California, have promised to deliver a peppermint dream of dance floor favourites on Friday, June 10th – and we’ll be handing out the heart shaped candies and holding hands to celebrate.
Jesse and Zinzi of Kisses insist that “Great pop music is about escape” – and as they grace Australian shores for the first time, we’ll be given the chance to see in the flesh why NME branded this disco-pop duo as one of the Best 50 New Bands of the Year for 2010.
As if we weren’t providing you with enough LA love – we’ve also flown in THEM JEANS (Dim Mak, Los Angeles), the worldwide acclaimed DJ-producer-promoter-graphic designer wunderkind behind remixes of The XX, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Major Lazer that you’ve bumped and grinded to on the Last Night D-Floor more than once before.
To start your heart racing we have Sydney favourites BETTY AIRS, who with their brand of jangly 60s garage will ensure you’re getting hot and bothered with someone behind the bicycle shed by night’s end. We’ve also posted a note on THE RUBENS locker to come down to serenade us and ask them if they want to go steady.
Love will most definitely be in the air when we’re twirling our dates to the musical stylings of PhDJ, M.I.T and RANDALL STAGG. The Glass Room upstairs is being taken over by the ONE FOUR COLLECTIVE and SPIT PRESS, who’ll be providing the soundtrack by which to crush on your fellow party-goers.
