Led Zeppelin fans have gone into overdrive, speculating about the cryptic image that was posted on the band’s Facebook page last night.
A black and white image with ‘Five’ in Led Zeppelin logo font (see above) has attracted more than 33,000 likes and 2,300 comments in less than 24 hours.
The leading suggestion is that the image is related to an imminent CD/DVD release of the band’s 2007 reunion concert at London’s 02 Arena – which was held as a tribute to their late former Atlantic Records boss, Ahmet Ertugun.
The concert took place on December 10 – so this year will mark the fifth anniversary of the show.
Blabbermouth reports that a handful of recent tweets from Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page’s manager Peter Mensch add further weight to the CD/DVD package rumours.
On Saturday, he tweeted: “it’s almost here. I’ve seen it and heard it. almost 5 years to the day.”
Back on July 9, he gave a few initial details: “today, [producer/engineer Alan] Moulder continues with his stellar mixing of the O2 show. it’s been 5 years coming and it’s almost here.”
Blabbermouth believe the set is rumored to consist of a double DVD accompanied by two CDs, and are tipping a November release.
An estimated nine million people applied for the 18,000 tickets to the O2 Arena show in 2007, which featured Jason Bonham replacing his late father John Bonham on drums.
