Legendary Rapper DMX Has Died, Aged 50

Legendary rapper DMX has died in a New York hospital just over a week after suffering a “catastrophic cardiac arrest.” He was 50 years old.

According to a statement from his family, the Grammy-nominated artist (whose real name is Earl Simmons) died surrounded by loved ones after several days on life support.

“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart, and we cherish the times we spent with him,” the family said, adding that his music “inspired countless fans across the world, and his iconic legacy will live on forever”.

DMX was first rushed to hospital on April 2nd with reports at the time suggesting his hospitalisation was brought on after a drug overdose. His lawyer, Murray Richman, could not confirm reports that DMX overdosed.
