Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister has been quietly recording what will surely be a not-so-quiet solo album.
When speaking with San Francisco Weekly, Lemmy revealed that his solo record is tentatively set for release next year and will feature rock legends such as Joan Jett and Dave Grohl.
“I’m three-quarters of the way though a solo album right now… I’ve got two tracks with The Damned, two tracks with Skew Siskin, one with Joan Jett, one with Grohl, and two with the Reverend Horton Heat. So I’ve got quite a mixed bag on there. I’m trying to get one with Skin from Skunk Anansie.”
Lemmy singled out Jeff Beck as the inspiration behind recording a solo record but also suggested that Beck may be the cause of delay.
“The original idea for this solo album I got from Jeff Beck. And he’s the only one I haven’t been able to nail down to do the fucking track, which is typical of Jeff. He’s always the same. He’d rather be under a car covered in gasoline than playing his guitar.”
Lemmy also made waves lately by condemning the new Motorhead box set. You can read all about it here on Music Feeds
