Liam Gallagher Calls New Oasis Documentary “Biblical”

It must be hard for the Gallagher brothers to keep coming up with new self-congratulatory remarks, but somehow they keep outdoing themselves.

After seeing a first cut of the new Oasis documentary, a chuffed Liam Gallagher tweeted that it was “Biblical,” i.e., like the Bible, i.e., Oasis is basically God.

OK fine Liam, but John Lennon did it first.

Gallagher also lamented the loss of ‘his’ brand of rock and roll. “Just seen the 1st cut of the OASIS film BIBLICAL what ever happened to my ROCKNROLL LG x,” read the tweet. He later added: “A real film about a real band for real fans none of them fake 1s you know who you are.”

The doco, titled Oasis – The Rock ‘N’ Roll Band That Defined A Generation, was produced by the team who made the Oscar-nominated Amy Winehouse documentary Amy, released in 2015 after her death.

It tells the story of Oasis’ great success as one of the defining bands of Britpop. The production team apparently had “unprecedented” access to the members of the band as well as archival materials to make the film. Both Noel and Liam Gallagher have been involved in interviews.

Noel – who went on to form Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – recently opened up about the documentary and revealed that chunks of footage had to be left out because of the content.

Speaking to GQ recently, Noel Gallagher said some footage had to be cut from the film because of its questionable content. “We have all this footage from behind the scenes leading up to the gigs, most of which can’t be used as there’s just monstrous drug taking.”

Oasis broke up in 2009 after a solid 18 years as a band, with unrealised speculation about a reformation circulating since then.
