Lil’ Wayne has confirmed that he’s an epileptic, and that the condition was the cause of the recent seizures that landed him in an LA hospital for an extended period of time.
Wayne revealed the details on his condition to LA hip-hop radio station Power 106 earlier this week, in his first interview since coming out of hospital. You can listen to the interview via DJ Felli Fel‘s SoundCloud at the bottom of the page.
“The bad news is I’m an epileptic,” he said. “Like, this isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them.
“But this time it got real bad ’cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 per cent. Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself.”
Wayne was reportedly on life support after a serious attack earlier this month (if you believe TMZ). He later tweeted that he was “good” and thanked everyone for their “prayers and love”.
In the interview, he added that the people close to him know “how to handle” his condition – but the recent attack was on a new scale.
“Certain times I don’t even go to the hospital, but this time, it was real bad because, like I said, it was three in a row, and I’ve never had three back to back like that.”
