Lime Cordiale, Dune Rats, Cub Sport and More to Play Inaugural Party in the Apocalypse 2021

Last week it was revealed that Tasmania was getting a new festival thanks to Vibestown, the organisers behind Party in the Paddock.

Dubbed Party in the Apocalypse, the lineup has now arrived for the event – scheduled to take place at Churchill Park in Launceston between Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th December – and it’s absolutely chockers with local and interstate favourites.

At the top of the bill are Lime Cordiale and Dune Rats, with the likes of Cub Sport, San Cisco, Methyl Ethel, Luca Brasi, Ruby Fields, Sycco, Sly Withers and King Stingray all featuring on the lineup as well. Check out the full list below. Tickets are on sale tomorrow morning (22nd October) from 8am. There’s a strict capacity limit of 5000, so you’ll want to be quick if you want to attend.

Vibestown artistic director Jesse Higgs described the new festival as “the (COVID-safe) urban rendition of the late, great Party In The Paddock” in a statement provided to Beat when announcing the festival last week.

“PITA’, as we’ve fondly dubbed this sibling festival, is inspired by the wild times that we’re living in. We’re looking to bring a fresh perspective to the word ‘Apocalypse’ and its origin meaning of fundamental change and a time of great insight,” said Higgs.

“Now, within the current climate, and festivals as we know them are on pause, we think it’s time to reconnect with the essence of the well-loved ‘party’ here in Tasmania again. We’re taking restrictions in our stride and pairing them alongside our core values of community, culture, art and environmental sustainability and placing them into what festivals could look like in the future.”
