Set for release later this year, Stampede Of The Disco Elephants marks the start of a new era for Limp Bizkit after being axed by their record label since 1997, Interscope, and teaming up with hip hop juggernaut Cash Money Records.
I know what you’re thinking — why? given their previous release, 2011’s Golden Cobra, achieving less than desired results, but don’t lose heart just yet. According to Fred Durst, “It’s like a leach has been taken off us and we’ve been given free rein to do as we please.” Alongside Stampede, the nu-metal kings will be releasing the follow-up to 2005’s The Unquestionable Truth Part 1EP, which was one of the last decent things the band released. Durst adds: “This is some crazy Limp Bizkit shit. We’re working on a follow-up EP to The Unquestionable Truth Part 1, alongside the album”
Surely after so many albums the novelty would be wearing off, though Durst discusses the points of difference between Stampede and the others: “Stampede has got to have something sizzling about it that’s more universally accepted,” says Durst. “Some of the songs have an urban feel. We’re writing all different sorts of tracks and it seems like the songs going into that basket are ones that girls can like as much as guys who like rock.”
