Overnight, we got another taste of one of the most anticipated albums of the year – the soundtrack to Dave Grohl‘s Sound City film.
Zane Lowe from BBC Radio 1 was the lucky chap who got to premiere the new song to the world – and it was Grohl, Corey Taylor, Rick Nielsen and Scott Reeder’s effort, From Can to Can’t.
The folks at Antiquiet described it as a “rising-sound rocker” – and I’d say it’s a pretty apt description of the track. From Can to Can’t starts off a bit repetitive, but from the 2-minute mark onwards, it really hits its straps – and turns into a giant track. Check it out via Antiquiet here or listen to it below.
Last month, we got to hear Cut Me Some Slack – a track that featured a re-formed Nirvana (Grohl, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic) and Beatle Sir Paul McCartney on vocals.
As previously reported, Grohl has recruited an all-star cast of musos to contribute to the film and the soundtrack – which pays homage to Los Angeles’ legendary Sound City Studios. The tracklisting is available here.
Sound City – the movie – will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Los Angeles later this week, with a digital release on February 1. The soundtrack – Sound City: Reel To Reel – will drop on March 12.
Oh, and last night a bit of footage surfaced featuring Pat Smear and Krist Novaselic bouncing away at Sound City Players band rehearsal. Check that out below:
