As reported by Crave Online, Frank Ocean has recently posted a new track titled Voodoo on his Tumblr account. Recently featured on No Church in the Wild from Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne collaboration; Ocean’s smooth crooning invokes an old school R&B feel. Think Barry White or Isaac Hayes but not as vocally deep.
Of course being a member of Odd Future means listeners can be assured that romance comes with a twist, as evident in some of the lyrics from Voodoo – “She’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit he’s got the whole wide world in his pants. He’s got the whole wide world in a wedding band; he put the whole wide world on her hand. She’s got the whole wide world in her hands.”
When speaking about the new track to BBC’s Zane Lowe back in November, Ocean said…
“The record is written, we’re just trying to tie up all the production. Get everything sonically pleasing to me… When I started writing this record that was one of the things I said. I wanted to be able to perform well, for it to transition to stage well… It feels good, they work out well.”
During the same interview Ocean also spoke of turning down the chance to work with Kanye West again.
“I said, ‘As much as I want to work with you… I kind of want to do this without you. I kind of want this to be done without you. I kind of want to do it on my own.'”
