Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has contributed a new song to David Ayer’s cop drama, End of Watch.
Consequence of Sound reports that the song was written by the film’s composer Dave Sardy and appears throughout the end credits.
They describe the song as one that “features Homme’s unmistakable croon paired with a mix of operatic piano and dark blues-rock guitar, slightly reminiscent of older QOTSA.”
Stereogum gave it a glowing review, saying that the track “features Homme’s twin signatures: his razor-sharp guitar/bass crunch and moody crooning. Plus a mention of pills in the chorus. Good stuff. Give it a listen.”
Homme has previously dabbled in a fair bit of soundtrack work in the past: he’s contributed to plenty of comedies such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Queens of the Stone Age are currently working on their sixth album – their follow-up to 2007’s Era Vulgaris. The band were in the country last year when they headlined Soundwave with Iron Maiden. Music Feeds will have more news for you on QOTSA’s new record when it becomes available.
