LISTEN: Laura Marling Streams Brand-New Single ‘Master Hunter’

London’s indie-folk scene is certainly manifesting itself as a strong force internationally, proven again as our attention is brought to the second single from singer-songwriter Laura Marling’s upcoming album Once I Was An Eagle titled Master Hunter.

It has become a common phenomenon that a second single varies wildly from the first and this instance is no exception. Whereas Marling’s first single Where Can I Go? introduced us to a comfortable husking female voice meets acoustic guitar combination building up to a Mumford & Son’s frenzy, Master Hunter shows us a different angle.

The song drips with a Jimmy Page influence treading that familiar territory of English musicians interpreting American blues-rock. It’s a richer, bolder and possible better tune that leans heavily on drums that must have that Mumford influence. This is, of course, no surprise as Marcus Mumford has been employed as her drummer in the past.

Check out the track below.
