A new compilation album combining the best of Joy Division and New Order is due to come out via the UK’s Rhino Records this June, a release that will include a previously unreleased New Order song, Hellbent, which you can hear below.
As Pitchfork remarks, it was quite a feat for Joy Division to do a complete about-turn and become New Order after the death of Ian Curtis in 1980. The album’s full title is Total: From Joy Division to New Order and is out on June 6.
The record features such Joy Division staples as Love Will Tear Us Apart, Transmission and Isolation alongside New Order classics like Blue Monday and True Faith.
Yesterday, May 18, marked 31 years since Curtis took his own life at the age of 23.
