LISTEN: Sia – ‘Chandelier’

Hit making Australian singer and songwriter for the stars Sia has dropped the first single, Chandelier, from her forthcoming album, due out later this year. A few months back, Sia broke the news of her much anticipated sixth studio album via Twitter, announcing a May release date.

The bombastic pop anthem, Chandelier, was co-written written by Sia and Jesse Shatkin (Kylie Minogue, Kelly Clarkson) and produced by her longtime collaborator Greg Kurstin (Pink, Lily Allen). Her new album will be the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2010 release, We Are Born, which won multiple ARIA Awards, including Best Pop Album and Best Video for Clap Your Hands.

“My friend Jesse Shatkin and I were jamming in the studio. I was playing piano and him on the marimba and this gem popped out,” Sia told American host Ryan Seacrest. “I usually think, ‘Oh this would work for Rihanna, or this would be a good one for B or Katy.’ But this time I was like, ‘Uh oh I think I just wrote a full blown pop song for myself by accident!’”

Despite her claims of retirement, the past few years have brought Sia more notoriety than ever before, penning hits for Rihanna, Katy Perry and Beyoncé, singing guest vocals on David Guetta and Flo Rida hits and appearing on the Great Gatsby and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtracks.
