Listen: Stream Of New Moonface Album

Moonface is Spencer Krug, member of Wolf Parade and the driving force behind Sunset Rubdown. While both of those bands are on hiatus (the former possibly permanently), he has put together this new project, which actually began life when he released an EP under the moniker back in 2009.

Now, he has a debut LP out, called Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I’d Hoped, , which you can listen to below – via Spin.

The album is out on Jagjaguwar on August 2. Krug said of the Moonface album, “[It is] dense, but in a satisfying way… like eating a small, heavy piece of cheesecake. It’s music played with an organ, organ beats, organ beeps and bloops, and some digital drums. Music based on layers and loops, the hypnotizing sound of a Leslie speaker, and the onslaught of melody.”

He added that more projects may be in the pipeline, saying, “Later this year I will be recording with a Helsinki-based band called Siinai.

“I’ll also be working on new percussion recordings and performances with my friend Mike Bigelow, who is a gentle, borderline alcoholic with fast hands, also currently helping me to play the Organ Music LP onstage. After this year, who knows? But I think I will stay on a zig-zag path until I fall.”
