Sufjan Stevens has trawled through his old hard drive and found a previously unreleased track.
And, ’cause he’s a wicked guy, he’s posted it on his Tumblr page – Wittgenstein Flies a Kite – for the world to listen to.
Give a Little Love is described by Stevens on the pages as an “abandoned song from 2010”, and mooted as an outtake from his album from that year, All Delighted People. Clearly… err, delighted with his discovery, Stevens finished up his description with the line, “Break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat bar”.
The singer has been in quite a musically giving mood in recent times. As NME reports, last year he released a seasonal box set titled Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Volumes 6-10. It featured the singer’s five Christmas EPs from 2006 to 2010, and guest appearances from the likes of The National‘s Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Arcade Fire‘s Richard Reed Parry.
Along with the music, the box set featured a whole collection of goodies, including Christmas stickers, temporary tattoos, lyric sheets and chord charts, a paper ornament, an apocalyptic pull-out poster, photos, illustrations and extensive liner-notes.
