The Killers feature on recently released Tim Burton film Dark Shadows by way of covering the 1972 Raspberries track Go All The Way.
As pointed out by Stereo Gum, the film’s soundtrack boasts an impressive list of musical acts, including tracks by T.Rex and Iggy Pop, while the film itself has a cameo by Alice Copper.
Apparently, however, The Killers’ cover that plays over the film’s end credits will not feature on the official soundtrack according to Idolator.
Music Feeds reported that The Killers will finally release a follow-up to 2008s Day & Age during 2012.
When speaking with BBC’s Zane Lowe, singer Brandon Flowers said the band was focusing on a more concise sharp sound.
“There definitely will be a Killers record coming out in 2012, it’s just whether it’s in summer time or the winter time, that’s up for debate. We’re just kind of in the factory, working. We’ve written a lot of songs, but they aren’t completely finished. I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we’ve done well and really hone in on that…We don’t want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam’s Town 2, or Day & Age 2,″ Flowers said.
NME posted that bassist Mark Stoemer said the record will also be more of a rocking affair then The Killers last release.
“Stylistically, it’s pushing in more of a rock direction than the last album. But we’re also doing something we haven’t done before. It’ll definitely sound like us”, Stoemer said.
