Australia’s very own rambling man, Dan Kelly, has returned to the scene after years spent travelling and touring abroad, releasing a new single that tackles our nation’s most enduring cultural war – the epic Melbourne vs Sydney debate.
On the insightful new tune, a typically jovial Kelly and his stellar Dream Band explore the never-ending rivalry between the two cities. The song acts as an introduction to the eccentric musician’s upcoming fourth album, slated for release early in the new year.
Described as “a mixtape about a journey up the east coast of Australia to the semi-mythical paradise of Northern New South Wales, with the odd sojourn to Berlin, Greece and Brooklyn,”
the album will be Kelly’s first since 2010’s AMP Award-shortlisted Dan Kelly’s Dream.
Melbourne vs Sydney was mixed by London-based master Aaron Cupples and its cover art (check it out below) was produced by the talented Ben Montero. Dan Kelly will launch the single with two special dates in both Melbourne and Sydney this September. See all the details below.
