Adult Swim have kicked off their 2014 Singles program with a previously unreleased track from dance music legend and Daft Punk collaborator Giorgio Moroder.
Giorgio’s Theme is Moroder’s first single in 22 years and combines his trademark analog techno-pop sound with crisp, modern production. Following on from an appearance on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, Moroder was among the illustrious names to perform during Vivid LIVE.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Adult Swim, the legendary producer said that while he enjoys the dance music of today, he wishes there was more focus on traditional song structure and melodies. “It’s a little bit different because sometimes it’s eight bars of one piece of music and eight bars of a different [piece]. They’re all great but sometimes the connection is not there,” he says.
As Rolling Stone reports, this year’s program is set to feature tracks from Flying Lotus side project Captain Murphy, Deafheaven, Mastodon, and more.
