Musician, composer, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, poet, political activist and System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian can now add ‘EDM star’ to his already lengthy CV. The multi-talented singer recently lent his voice to a track by producer Benny Benassi called Shooting Helicopters.
A three-minute teaser of the track has been released online, featuring Tankian’s distinctive vocal stylings, which build to a high-pitched climax before the inevitable bass drop. The full version of the song is expected to be released soon.
This isn’t the System of a Down frontman’s first foray into the world of dance music either. Tankian was recently announced as one of the many guest stars on Avicii‘s upcoming sophomore album, along with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Chris Martin and Jon Bon Jovi.
While System of a Down haven’t released any new albums since 2005’s Hypnotize, Tankian has been busy at work releasing five solo records and numerous collaborations. Just last year, Tankian worked with Ihsahn and Devin Townsend for charity project Revolution Harmony, and appeared on rapper Tech N9ne‘s album Something Else.
