Wavves have already given us a few tastes of their upcoming album Afraid Of Heights, but now NPR has made the entire album available to stream before its scheduled release date, and you can listen to the whole thing below!
Initial impressions are highly favourable – though the band have gone completely independent for the release of Afraid of Heights, the album has less of a thrashy, in-your-face vibe than previous releases, opting for a more chilled out tempo and a definite Weezeresque sound while still retaining their good-time Californian summer vibe.
Wavves has been building a lot of hype for Afraid Of Heights in the last 6 months off the back of singles Sail To The Sun and Demon To Lean On, the latter of which came accompanied with a fantastically surreal video clip featuring a bunch of mini Mad Maxes terrorising some poor child in a junkyard.
We also know that the band will be touring Australia some time this year, announcing via the band’s official Twitter account that they’re “very excited” to be heading back Down Under after being here less than a year ago for Groovin’ The Moo, though there’s been no official word of when just yet.
Hold tight – it’s gonna be a big year for the Wavves boys, and we’re lucky to be a part of it! Stream Afraid Of Heights below. The album is due for release this Friday, 22nd April.
