Little Birdy Reveal Album Title Plus Free Song Download

Little Birdy are back. We can exclusively reveal here and now that their third album will be called… “Confetti”. It will land in May.

“Confetti fell out of my mouth, the word just literally came out of nowhere”, reflects the bands singer/songwriter/guitarist, 25 year old Katy Steele. It was a happy accident given that the title perfectly captures the ying/yang, bittersweet feelings that inspired the classic sounding songs on this album.

With two acclaimed, top ten, gold certified discs already under their wings the four members of the band chose to produce “Confetti” themselves with the help of engineer/mixer Steven Schram. The guys and the gal all dedicated over 12 months to obsessively honing the tunes and capturing appropriately spirited performances. They also introduced a slew of new instruments to create a piece of work that goes well beyond anything they’ve attempted previously.

The result is a collection of classic sounding tracks that sound like Dusty Springfield has been teleported from her Memphis heyday into modern day Melbourne … and brought Burt Bacharach and Midlake along for the ride.

Little Birdy fans can get a sneak peak at “Confetti” by checking out a FREE download of the first song on the album – “Brother”. The raw boned track will be available on the bands official website http://www.littlebirdy.net from now for a limited time.

The song is a compelling piece of acoustica inspired by a lifetime with her brother, Luke, and father, Rick. It opens with the unforgettable couplet “my brother you taught me how to fly, my papa you taught me how to cry”

“This song was straight up. Sometimes I wondered if we should even put it on the record because it’s just so honest and brutal – brutal in the fragile sense…”, says Katy .

Australian music legend Paul Kelly adds vocals and harmonica to the track, returning the favour for the backing vocals Katy provided on some sessions for him a few years back.

Katy says: “The experience of working with Paul just reminded me of why he’s such a legend. It wasn’t like he just rocked up to the studio to do a session – he really poured everything into it. We kinda felt like he joined our band for that day and that was a pretty great feeling.”

“Brother” will be followed next month with the unveiling of the first single from “Confetti” – an uptempo song called “Summarize” that’s already proved a live fave.

“Brother” – the opening track of “Confetti” and FREE download available now from http://www.littlebirdy.net for a limited time only.

“Summarize” – the lead single from “Confetti” coming next month.
