It’s crazy to think that Brisbane’s The Foundry has already been bringing us massive lineups and killer vibes for a whole year.
The venue has featured a plethora of Australia’s biggest acts as well as plenty of up-and-comers, and to celebrate its first birthday The Foundry will be holding a huge birthday bash.
In the lead up to the party, set to go down tomorrow on Thursday, 18th August, we asked a bunch of acts who’ve played at The Foundry to share some of their thoughts and memories from the first year of life at one of Brisbane’s favourite establishments.

The Creases
Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
I think one of The Creases biggest Foundry moments was at the Valley Crawl show earlier this year where it was packed to the brim and people where just climbing and jumping all over the stage while we played. A lot of my gear got soaked with beer but it was a really fun time. I also have very fond memories every month putting on my ‘LOADED‘ club nights and being able to have my friends from all over the Australia come up and play and party.

Happy birthday baby, sorry for spilling so much beer on your floors and walls.
Little May
Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
We played one of our first headline shows at the Foundry. It was such an awesome show, and super intimate. We’ve stayed upstairs a bunch of times too, even when we aren’t playing. The Foundry staff are legends and it feels like a bit of a safe haven for us.
Do you have a birthday message for The Foundry?
HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO THE FOUNDRY! May you have many more great bands inside you and plenty more loose nights. We will no doubt visit you again very soon.
Laneway Festival
Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
We held our after party at the Foundry this year and it was epic. Chvrches (DJ set), Health (DJ set), The Smith Street Band (DJ set) and DJ Slymewave (Big Scary) all performed amazing sets and it was the perfect way to finish off a huge day at Laneway Brisbane.

Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
A memory I have is of being very, very tired, and for once feeling a bit weird about going on stage, but finally going on stage to a very enthusiastic and excited crowd, looking down the barrel of that long room, and being reminded of the love I feel for performing.

Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
Our show at The Foundry was the first time we played in Brisbane since 2014 and it was the best. It was our favourite show of the tour with a great sounding venue and an amazing crowd. The venue provided some pretty sweet bunk beds for us to stay in too.

Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
I remember being on stage while the crowd was screaming and I was thinking, “No venue in Australia ticks every box like this place.” Small cap, solid staff, solid PA, a proper merch desk and green room. Try and beat that.

The Foundry will ALWAYS have a spesh place in my heart, it’s where I played my first EVA Brisbane show! Dope venue and I think Brisbane crowds are the best!! And who could forget the bunk beds upstairs?!

Can you share a memory from playing at The Foundry during its first year?
We’ve played at The Foundry more times in the last year than any other venue; it’s always a sick time because they have their shit nailed down. Sound is flawless, they look after you and seeing all the familiar faces around the place makes you feel really welcome. On top of a great venue it’s become a staple stomping ground, as Brisbanites it’s always got the best shows, prices and the vibe is dope. You can’t go to The Foundry without running into several great mates and having a good time.
