Strap in Sydney, because London’s iconic Ministry of Sound Club is coming to raise the bar on your clubbing steez forever. It’s set to make its Australian debut in the NSW capital in just over a week’s time and your fave party-starters Peking Duk will be there to lend a helping hand.
The Canberra-bred loose units will be headlining the debut of the new weekly Ministry Of Sound club night at The Ivy on Saturday, 10th June and putting the venue’s brand new sound system through its paces in the Courtyard, with support from US house legend Sandy Rivera AKA Kings of Tomorrow taking over Pool Club alongside Husky and many more.
The gang from Ministry Of Sound are spruiking the night as “[ushering] in a new era of clubbing to Australia”, in the same was that the UK superclub transformed London back in 1991.
“The site was a derelict bus garage in a part of South London considered more infamous than famous,” a press statement reads. “Within a matter of weeks, word had spread that something special had landed smack in the middle of SE1 and London’s nightlife would never be the same again.”
Jonathan Bevan, CEO of Ministry of Sound, says, “It’s long been an ambition as our fan-base is so strong in Australia. ivy is a stunning venue and we’re looking forward to many amazing clubbing moments there.”
While Ministry Of Sound Australia CEO Tim McGee adds, “We will be implementing a forward-thinking music policy and making Ministry of Sound Club a haven for good music and a home for both international and Australian artists to connect with their fans.”
The new superclub will hit The Ivy every Saturday from the epic launch on 10th June onwards, with four rooms of froth-worthy musical offerings.
