It seems like Gang Of Youths are back in the studio, with fansite Deeper Sighs picking up on a pair of Instagram stories posted by Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo which appear to show members of the band working on music.
Ricciardo is a big time Gang of Youths fan, expressing his fondness for the band’s cover of The Middle East’s ‘Blood’ on Twitter and posing for a photo with the group back in 2017. Given the history, it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to assume he’d been invited into the studio by the band.

Ricciardo posted two Instagram stories capturing the band in the studio earlier this week. Of course, due to the ephemeral nature of Instagram stories, they’re no longer available. According to Deeper Sighs, however, one clip features frontman David Le’aupepe singing over a slow electric guitar and drums, while the second shows a mid-tempo track that appears a lot more fully formed, with most of the band performing the track.
So, it’s not a ton to go off, but it’s at least some kind of confirmation the band are working on ~something~.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from the Gang, their last release being 2017’s superb Go Farther In Lightness. Late in 2018, Le’aupepe revealed he had a concept and name in mind for the forthcoming record, but back in April of this year confirmed it probably won’t be coming out before 2020.
