In a hilarious plot-twist, Lorde has confirmed the crackpot internet theory that she’s been secretly running an Instagram page dedicated to reviewing onion rings is 100% true.
The Kiwi alt-pop kween, who dropped her much-hyped sophomore album Melodrama on Friday, went on The Tonight Show to fess up to moonlighting as a connoisseur of the deep-fried onion-based delicacy.
“It’s me,” she confirmed to host Jimmy Fallon, who was in trademark hysterics. “I’m so embarrassed.”
“I naively didn’t realise that it would be a thing that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places,” Lorde explained.
“It was a funny thing with my friends on tour.”

Internet sleuths recently pieced together the theory that little-known (and since-deleted) Insta account ‘onionringsworldwide’, which predictably shared reviews and photos of onion rings around the world, was being masterminded by the one and only Lorde, based on a series of circumstantial evidence.
Watch Lorde (of the onion rings) confirm their theory on Fallon in the video below.
