There’s been a rare rustling from Lorde on social media!
Sadly, not on any of her official accounts, though. The alt-pop queen has been notoriously mum on her own Instagram profile since all the way back in 2018.
We are pleased to report, however, that her other account is back up and running! You know, the one where she reviews onion rings.
ICYMI: it was revealed that Lorde was behind @onionringsworldwide around the time she released her second studio album Melodrama.
“It’s me,” she told Jimmy Fallon back in 2017. “I’m so embarrassed.”
“I naively didn’t realise that it would be a thing that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places,” she continued.
“It was a funny thing with my friends on tour.”
Now, she’s back on her onion ring reviewing BS, resurfacing on Insta this week with a brand new post.
This time, Lorde has aimed her tastebuds squarely at the deep fried delicacies on offer at Auckland’s Hotel Ponsonby in her native NZ.
“Yoosh lads back with another ring post…” she writes. “These were from the Hotel Ponsonby establishment, we’re talking PICKLED onion rings which is a first for this reviewer. I totally vibe the concept— used to eat pickled onions out of the jar as a youngster— however I think if you’re gonna go there, go there, and let acidity rather than sweetness dominate.”
But overall, Her Lordeship must have enjoyed the experience, because she rated the rings a solid 4/5.
“Absolutely sensational batter, perhaps the best I’ve tried. 4/5 overall ringsperience,” she raved.
While we’re still awaiting Lorde’s mysterious third album, at least the reemergence of her onion ring reviewing platform times excellently with the opening of the trans-tasman travel bubble.
