Lorde Is Playing A Show In Israel, And Some Fans Aren’t Happy

New Zealand pop phenom Lorde has announced her first-ever concert in Israel, but the decision hasn’t been given the Green Light by her fans.

Some have called on the 21-year-old to boycott performing in the country, after she announced the show alongside two Russian concerts earlier this week.

Fans have shared their concerns on Twitter, where some have accused Lorde of agreeing to perform in “an apartheid racist state”.

Janfrie Wakim, a spokesperson for the New Zealand Palestine Solidarity Network, has Newshub, “We think it’s a very unwise thing for Lorde to have accepted.

“Israel should be boycotted until it complies with international law and the norms of human society.”

Meanwhile, other fans have defended Lorde’s decision to perform in Israel — a decision which has also caused controversy for acts like Radiohead and Nick Cave as of late.

Lorde’s announcement of an Israeli show comes after a number of prominent musicians — including Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe — joined the Artists For Palestine UK movement to urge others not to perform in the country.

Music Feeds has reached out to Lorde for comment. The singer is scheduled to perform at the Tel Aviv Convention Centre on 5th June 2018.
