Lorde Puts Kyle Sandilands In Check Over “Lesbian” Comments

While appearing on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Sydney radio station KIIS 1065 yesterday morning, New Zealand pop sensation Lorde took notorious co-host Kyle Sandilands to task for questions about the 17-year-old’s relationship with fellow pop singer and US country star Taylor Swift.

“Are you bringing your new bestie, Taylor Swift?” prodded the divisive host, who in the past has let his mouth get him fired from a position as a judge on Australian Idol, as well as being found in breach of the Industry Codes of Practice and Guidelines by the Communications and Media Authority.

“I see you guys’ pictures everywhere. Are you guys like, uh, are you together now?” Sandilands continued, facing an awkward silence from the Royals hit-maker. “Not together as in lesbians. I’m not talking about ‘Ellen together.’ I’m talking about, like, you guys are friendly right?”

“What do you mean you’re not talking about ‘Ellen together’?” Lorde finally responded. “Is there something wrong with lesbians? Is that what you’re trying to say?” “Oh my god no, I would love that!” said Sandilands, “Are you going to confirm now you’re in a lesbian relationship with her?”

The Grammy winner did not appear impressed by the host’s Hail Mary attempt at saving the awkward interview, telling Sandilands, “Don’t even try it. It’s not working.” The host told Lorde that the show maintains a good relationship with Swift and called her a “gorgeous creature.”

Facing yet more silence from the Kiwi songstress, who had seemingly had enough, Sandilands quipped, “Don’t get too overboard with explaining the friendship, though. We haven’t got all day,” to which the guest nonchalantly responded, “I won’t, believe me.” Hear the interview below.
