In reflecting on the release of her sophomore album, Lorde is also looking forward in teasing fans with an update on the follow up to Melodrama.
“Third one in the oven,” Lorde simply put at the end of a social media post today, noting the growth she has undergone as a musician and a human between album releases.
The release of Melodrama in 2017 proved to be a departure from the otherwise minimalist, yet striking, music on her debut – Pure Heroine – with Lorde striding into an electro-pop spotlight that she wound command over the course of the Melodrama album cycle.
Jack Antonoff’s presence of course, was felt throughout the album, though input from the likes of Flume and Joel Little brought Melodrama into a new sonic lane for Lorde. One fans are watching eagle-eyed to see if she’ll return to with Album Three.
“The day it came out I did a jigsaw puzzle all day in my hotel room in NY,” Lorde wrote of Melodrama‘s release. “I felt so emptied, I didn’t really know yet that you make a record and get filled up, and then releasing it empties you…and slowly fills you up again. I was such a baby making that work, lots of emotions and learning so much all the time.”
