Madonna Is Touring Australia For The First Time Since 1993

It’s been more than 20 years since she last graced our shores but Madonna is finally set to tour Australia once more, and it looks like the singer is set to land in 2016.

Madge has announced the 35-city Rebel Heart World Tour and, while none of the currently announced dates include Australia, it comes with a statement that “additional tour dates for Asia and Australia are expected to be announced soon.”

The tour will kick off in Miami in August with Glasgow currently listed as the last show in late December. The announced dates have her booked in for the majority of 2015 which means we should expect her to visit Australia in early 2016.

The latest tour is her first since 2012’s MDNA Tour, the Australian leg of which was cancelled in order to spend more time with her kids.

Given that her last Australian tour was in 1993, just after the release of Erotica, Madonna has eight albums worth of material that Australian fans are yet to hear live, so she’s going to have her work cut out for her.

Madonna will release her 13th studio album Rebel Heart this month. 13 has indeed been an unlucky number for her; in December she was forced to release six songs from the album on iTunes after unfinished versions were leaked, and last week she suffered a mighty fall on stage at the BRIT Awards. Let’s hope she has some better luck while on tour.
