Marilyn Manson has recalled the time when he nearly stole two $20,000 watches from bluesy crooner John Mayer.
In an interview with PhillyBurbs.com, the interviewer described today’s healthier and less rebellious lifestyle of modern musicians as the “John Mayer-isation of rock,” prompting Manson to tell his own story about Mayer.
“I met him [Mayer] right after he got in trouble for saying the “n” word,” Manson said. “You don’t want to say that word, even if you’re black because you’ll get your ass beat.
“He was shifty, cagey and weird. Mayer invited me up to his room and he proceeded to show me, out of his safe, his collection of Rolex watches; they’re about $20,000 apiece.
“Why do you need a watch? I have an iPhone. I was contemplating going into the bathroom, putting whatever metal objects I had in my sock and just rolling him.
“When he would tell people, ‘Marilyn Manson stole my watches,’ who would believe him?”
Manson is currently doing a co-headlining tour in the States with fellow shock-rocker Rob Zombie. The pair had a bit of a public slanging match earlier this week – in which Manson threatened to “kick Zombie’s ass”. Given this recent revelation, we reckon Rob better get security backstage to keep an eye on all his belongings..
