Major Lazer, aka American DJ/Producer Diplo, is all set to return with a follow-up to 2009’s debut record Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do. Major Lazer Free the Universe is due out on November 6 via Mad Decent/Downtown, and although the project no longer includes UK DJ Switch on a constant basis, the new album does boast a massive list of ‘special’ guests.
According to Pitchfork, Free the Universe has an eclectic collective of collaborators, including Vampire Weekend’s Ezra, Wyclef, Bruno Mars & Shaggy. A press release about the upcoming record said that Free the Universe is more a reflection of Diplo’s direction than the previous Major Lazer LP.
“Free the Universe forges a new path for Major Lazer, now with Diplo as the sole executive producer for the project.”
Diplo has also recently lent a hand to Snoop Dogg for his Snoop Lion reggae record Reincarnated.
