Atlanta-based indie rockers Manchester Orchestra have announced an upcoming Australian Tour which will see the band play a series of headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane later this year.
The band were last in the country for a series of dates in 2012 and since then they’ve written, recorded and released their fourth studio album, Cope, a record which has garnered sterling reviews for being the band’s heaviest and most singular effort to date.
Recorded entirely in the band’s self-built home studio, Cope was also self-produced alongside their long-time collaborating partner Dan Hannon, and mixed by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile, The Thermals, Sonic Youth).
“I worked harder on this record than any record before and really made sure that I carried it through — we all were — carried it through to the finish line,” frontman Andy Hull told Music Feeds earlier this year. “I think that’s why I like it so much is ’cause it sounds exactly how I wanted it to sound. It was supposed to sound different than anything else. I wanted to make a record that didn’t sound like anything else.”
Fan pre sale for the Manchester Orchestra shows go from Wednesday, 2nd July at 2pm (local time) until Friday, 4th July at 5pm (local time). Fans purchasing pre sale tickets for the Brisbane show will need the password COPE. General public tickets for all shows will be available from Monday, 7th July.
UPDATE 11/08/14: Due to demand for tickets, Manchester Orchestra have added an extra Melbourne show to their 2014 tour after selling out the first Melbourne date. Updated tour details available below.
