Mark Ronson ‘Almost Died’ Recording The Black Lips

Producer supremo Mark Ronson has revealed that he ‘nearly died’ whilst working with the Black Lips on their forthcoming album Arabia Mountain.

NME reports that Ronson was forced to go to hospital after eating raw liver sushi with  the Atlanta, Georgia band at a Japanese restaurant as they prepared to record the track Raw Meat.

The Black Lips’ Cole Alexander said, “To get in the mood to record Raw Meat we started eating all this liver sashimi. Then we all started getting sick from it. Mark had to go to hospital because he was so high. His brain was cooking, man.”

Ronson himself described the ordeal by saying, “I thought maybe I was hungover or something. Then I started shivering uncontrollably. The next thing, the band are putting all these blankets over me. I wake up an hour later, just moaning and groaning.

“One of them touched my skin and they were like, ‘listen dude, we’ve got to get you to a hospital’. When I was there I was diagnosed with something with a lot of syllables in it – endohinitis, or something like that. I almost died. But I don’t think it was intentional on their part.”

Arabia Mountain comes out in June.
